Ilkley Good Neigbours - ShopAssist Scheme
Ilkley and District Good Neighbours support elderly and isolated people in the district. We are currently setting up an assisted shopping scheme, ShopAssist.
A volunteer is matched to an older person and arranges to take them to a local supermarket of their choice on a regular basis at a mutually agreeable time. This could be every week or perhaps once a fortnight. We hope to help reduce social isolation and improve mental well-being by enabling older people to get out to the shops on a regular basis.
We are currently looking for volunteers for the project and would love to hear from anyone of any age who has a car and a couple of hours free each week to help someone in the district.
For more information please call Judy Hutton at Ilkley Good Neighbours – 01943 603348.
